Flood Warning issued May 19 at 8:26PM CDT until May 20 at 12:30AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of South Central Kansas, including the following county, Sedgwick. * WHEN...Until 1230 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Street flooding of typical flood-prone areas is likely across the Wichita area. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 826 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch is possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Wichita, Derby, Andover, Haysville, Park City, Valley Center, Bel Aire, Mulvane, Goddard, Rose Hill, Maize, Clearwater, Cheney, Sedgwick, Colwich, Garden Plain, Mount Hope, Downtown Wichita, Kechi and Andale. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
