Menard Creek near Rye affecting Hardin, Polk and Liberty Counties. For the Menard Creek...including Rye...Major flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Menard Creek near Rye. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 28.0 feet, Major lowland flooding begins with widespread inundation of the flood plain in the vicinity of the gage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:16 AM CDT Friday the stage was 26.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 17.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 3:16 AM CDT Friday was 26.7 feet. - Forecast...The river will fall to 26.5 feet this morning. It will then rise to 26.7 feet this afternoon. It will fall to 26.6 feet this evening. It will then rise to 31.1 feet tomorrow morning. It will fall again but remain above flood stage. - Flood stage is 20.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 31.1 feet on 10/17/1994. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Flood Warning issued May 17 at 3:43AM CDT until May 17 at 8:45AM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following counties, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk and San Jacinto. * WHEN...Until 845 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 343 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Cleveland, Livingston, Shepherd, Coldspring, Point Blank, Goodrich, North Cleveland, Lake Livingston State Park, West Livingston, Alabama-Coushatta Reservation, Romayor, Rye, Tarkington Prairie, Segno and Evergreen. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
