Red Flag Warning issued June 16 at 2:42PM MDT until June 18 at 3:00AM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 498 Grand Staircase. * WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph on through this evening, and up to 45 mph on Monday afternoon and evening. Gusts may continue on exposed ridgelines through the overnight hours. * COLD FRONT...A strong cold front will cross the area late Monday evening into Monday night, bringing an abrupt wind shift to the northwest. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 5 percent. Overnight recoveries will be poor, averaging around 15-25%. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are likely to occur. Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or are imminent. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
